Rafael Leao’s renewal has been a hot topic lately and the fact that AC Milan failed to reach an agreement before the World Cup has fueled the matter. The tournament, as such, will be very important for the renewal.
Leao’s current deal will expire in 2024 and given his amazing form in the last year and a half, Milan are keen on renewing his contract. The situation is rather complicated and it’s not certain that the winger will stay at the club.

In his latest column for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni states that the situation is ‘total chaos’ amid the high demands of Leao and also the compensation payment owed to Sporting. The importance of the World Cup is evident, there’s no doubt.
A good tournament could make things very difficult for Milan in terms of reaching an agreement, but would also guarantee a rather high transfer fee. In fact, offers could even arrive in January in that scenario, but a poor tournament would make the renewal easier.
False logic. Leao’s father already think he is the best and they will demand the same amount of money.
Ac Milan dont have problem with Leao but with poor management decision, when or how extend players contracts. Owner management have poor logic in thinking that they can save money on best players contracts.
You misunderstand. If he does poorly in the tournament other teams may cool on him, making the renewal easier.
No one should be “hoping” that Rafa should have bad WC, in order to keep him! That has nothing, or very little when it comes his decision. And it’s obvious that he made his (probably with the “help” of few others).
I’ve said this at least a month ago! IF HE WANTED TO RENEW, he would’ve done it by now, but the boy is ALL ABOUT MONEY, especially his agents and his father, so they’re all in favor for transfer. Because, besides the potential bigger wage (although, it won’t be much higher), for them it’s much more important how much they’ll get in cash, just for signing with another team, which won’t be the case with Milan. And given the fact he doesn’t have anything inside himself, when it comes to club connection, love for Milan, he’ll be gone sooner or later!
Thus, again, as I said before, get as much s you can for him and put ALL THAT MONEY in Mudrik from Shakhtar. Try using any potential influence Sheva might have on his young countryman, and that’s it. Don’t be cheap, if yu get 80 to 100 for Rafa, then try to offer half (or so) for the Ukranian kid, because that’s the best way to offend those people and shot yourself in the foot. And Mudrik is currently THE ONLY ONE who can replace money-loving Rafa, without a sense of his own self!
