CM: Today’s session decisive for Maignan as 163-day wait could finally end

By Oliver Fisher -

Mike Maignan has spent a long time on the sidelines and the feeling is that he is finally closing in on a return to Serie A action.

Calciomercato.com write how Sunday’s game against Atalanta at San Siro becomes a crucial crossroads for Milan in terms of their hopes of qualification for the next Champions League as they will face off against a rival for the top four.

To beat them Pioli needs all hands on deck and after 163 days of absence, Maignan is ready to resume his place in goal. Yesterday the Frenchman did the entire training session with the rest of the squad and today’s session will be decisive in view of Sunday’s game.

There is optimism protruding from Milanello about his chances of playing, while at the very least he and Alessandro Florenzi should be back on the squad list given the full-back is also back in training.

Ismael Bennacer and Davide Calabria however are still doing individual work and the target for them remains the Champions League match against Tottenham.
