Maignan and Hernandez react to their appearance records: “I want even more”

AC Milan duo Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez have reacted to the club marking their appearance records with an award and a small ceremony after training.

The two French stars reached a milestone during the match against Atalanta recently. Hernandez has now made 200 appearances for the club, whilst Maignan has made 100.

After training at Milanello on Monday, the two players were honoured in the changing rooms in front of the whole squad by CEO Giorgio Furlani, with coach Stefano Pioli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also present.

Both players were presented with a small gift and a little speech by Furlani. The two players then explained how happy they are to reach this milestone.

Furlani shared an interesting fact about Hernandez, saying he has scored more goals and gotten more assists than any other Serie A defender since he arrived.

“We give the award for 200 games in an AC Milan shirt to Theo. You are the only defender in Serie A who has scored more than 20 goals and made more than 20 assists in the last five years. Congratulations for your 200 games with AC Milan,” Furlani said.

Similarly, he had a good fact for Maignan’s presentation as well: “We also give this award to Mike for his 100 games in Milan. As I said for him, I say you are the best goalkeeper in the world. In the last three years there is only one goalkeeper who has made an assist in every league, that’s you. Congratulations.”

Hernandez thanked the club for the award, saying: “I want to thank everyone, I am very happy for the 200 games at this great club. I hope to do even more and Forza Milan.”

Maignan did the same, saying he wants to achieve even more with the team: “I also want to thank everyone, I am very happy and very proud of my 100 games in Milan, for this historic club. But I want to write history, play even more games and win more trophies. To write our history we have to win trophies.”
