Mike Maignan wants to return earlier than expected from his muscle injury but it is unlikely he will be allowed to play on Sunday, a report claims.
According to what La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning, Maignan is pushing to return early after the calf injury he sustained during his duty with the French national team that has kept him out in recent weeks.
Maignan would likely to start the away match against Hellas Verona on Sunday night and today’s training session at Milanello could be decisive in this sense, with the medical staff perhaps forced to reconsider if he responds well.
However, the chances of him being allowed to play at the Bentegodi are still low and therefore the Frenchman’s return will be 100% in the match against Monza, and then three days later he should make his Champions League return in Croatia against Dinamo Zagreb.
Many will recall how Maignan shortened the recovery time expected last season after he underwent minor surgery on his wrist.
