MN: Maignan has Rossi and Buffon records in his sights as clean sheet run continues

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan welcomed Mike Maignan in the summer window and he had the tough task of taking the vacancy left by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but he has done so fantastically.

Maignan has seven consecutive clean sheets across the league and the Coppa Italia and his last conceded goal dates all the way back to February 19, in the away draw against Salernitana. MilanNews writes how he is increasingly decisive in the Rossoneri’s plans moving forward and he is a leader for a young, strong defense with a lot of potential.

He already has 14 clean sheets for the season, the same as his counterpart at Inter – Samir Handanovic – but with five fewer games after he underwent surgery on his hand towards the back end of last year.

The data shows just how amazing he has been: the former Lille man has not collected the ball out of his goal for over 500 minutes (565 minutes to be precise) and now he has Sebastiano Rossi in his sights, who went 929 minutes unbeaten. Gianluigi Buffon managed 973 minutes while at Juventus, and Magic Mike has both in his sights.
