Tuttosport: Pioli welcomes back crucial duo for Sassuolo game as Maignan and Tomori return

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli should welcome back two of his absolute key men on Sunday afternoon when Sassuolo come to San Siro, a report claims.

After the victory against Atletico Madrid, Milan are ready to dive back into league action and they must right the wrongs from the 4-3 defeat to Fiorentina that handed the Rossoneri their first Serie A defeat of the season, of course buoyed by the win away against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

As reported in this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports that Mike Maignan should get the start in goal and centre-back Fikayo Tomori should also be back in the starting XI, which is a fantastic double boost.

Maignan has made an accelerated recovery from an operation on his wrist that he underwent six weeks ago, while Tomori missed the last two games with a hip problem and has now seemingly shrugged it off.

  1. I really really hope they’re not rushing Mike back. We CANNOT afford a re-injury, as that will likely put him out for even longer.

  2. That is my fear too Vero, we need to keep this momentum and high intensity for the next 15 games both in Europe and in seria A

  3. Well said Vero and Nearl. Moreover, Tartar has been fantastic apart from his flop against Fiorentina.

I feel Kjaer should get a rest, and Tomori should get a nod.
