Mike Maignan was stretchered off the pitch in AC Milan’s 4-0 win against Udinese last night. Thankfully, as confirmed by the goalkeeper himself this evening, everything is fine as he avoided a serious injury.
As Maignan hit the ground in the 52nd minute, many feared the worst. The collision with Alex Jimenez was indeed a nasty one, especially since it occurred at such a high speed, and the goalkeeper had to go to the hospital immediately for further checks.
Thankfully, as was confirmed by the club already this morning, Maignan avoided any serious head injury and was discharged from the hospital at 9 am. He will be under observation until Tuesday, when new tests will take place to determine when he can return to training.
On his social media accounts this evening, Maignan addressed his fans after the nasty collision, stating that everything has gone well under the circumstances: “The advantage of being stubborn is that you have a hard head… Everything is fine thank god. Thank you for your messages! I appreciate it,” he wrote.
It’s certainly nice to hear that the goalkeeper is okay, especially since it could have been so much worse given the high-speed impact. Now, Milan will give him the time needed to recover.
L’avantage quand on est têtu, c’est qu’on a la tête dure…
Tout va bien Dieu merci ☝🏾

Poor goalkeeping from Maignan. He’s done that several times now and there was no need for him to come that far off his line and out of the box where can’t use his hands.
The defenders had it covered and he could have easily got a sense red card if he had collided with the Udinese player.
And if he had not come out of his line and attempted to clear that, and it led to a goal.
You would still criticize him that he stayed behind and did nothing.
You have had it out for maignan recently. Whatever he does, you would still complain and believe someone can do his job better.
Special days we live in where the fanbase are against their own players
And since there is nothing you can hold management and the coach in order to wail as usual, Maignan had to be the scapegoat and reason for your usual cries
Thank God he is ok 🙏
MIGNAN IS TRAYING HIS BEST
