Tuttosport: The main reason Milan have chosen to go with Origi over Belotti

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem to have chosen to go with Liverpool striker Divock Origi as their main summer target over Andrea Belotti, a report claims.

In recent months, the name of Belotti has often repeatedly linked with Milan but Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report that the management have decided to go for Origi to reinforce the attacking department ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The Torino forward has never fully convinced the Milan leadership and as a result they preferred to go full steam ahead for the Belgian striker who would also be available on a free transfer given his deal is expiring.

One of the key factors in Origi’s favour is that he certainly has more international experience than Il Gallo given he has played in the Champions League for Liverpool and has also represented his country Belgium at major international tournaments. The hope is that giving him a more prominent role could give a chance to express.

    1. Gross salary almost same. Origi 4m euro + tax 50 percent total 6m euro gross , belotti 3m euro nett + tax 100 percent total 6m euro gross. The different are pure tactic which Origi already familiar to gegen pressing ( almost similar to Pioli highpress )and internasional experience

      1. Yes, and he’s a bit younger too and can play on the flanks if necessary. I’d rather an Italian, but I understand this move. The one thing Belotti has over Origi is strike rate and it’s a bit worrisome because we’re looking for goals.

  1. Given our limited budget and for all the reasons everyone just mentioned above I think it will be a solid signing and as @Vero Rossonero mentioned he can also play RW which is an area of need…

  2. Stupid call. We are an Italian team. We are loosing our Italian character. A rossonero fan and proven goal scorer in the toughest league to score is snubbed for a bench player? BS!
