Daniel Maldini AC Milan faded

CM: Daniel Maldini already heading for Serie A move – what it means for Milan

Daniel Maldini’s performances at Monza have earned him early talks about another move, and AC Milan will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings.

During the weekend, it was reported that Milan do not have a ‘priority’ clause for Maldini, so there may not be a return to the Rossoneri as some may have hoped, especially if other clubs get into negotiations before.

However, this is the situation seemingly playing out. Calciomercato.com have reported that La Dea are currently in pole position to sign the youngster, and contacts are ‘quite advanced’ to pay the €12 million release clause in his contract.

It is possible that the fee could be paid in January, depending on Monza’s situation ahead of the mercato, and if a Serie A move occurred, the Diavolo would pocket €6, from the deal, as they did from Marco Brescianini’s move.

A move away from Italy would see Monza pocket €7.5m due to the elevated European release clause of €15m, the other 50% would, of course, go to Milan. The report suggests that the midfielder prefers to ‘remain a protagonist’ in Serie A, so a move to La Dea could be the best natural step forward to achieving this.

Moving to Atalanta could minimise the chances of a possible return to the Rossoneri one day, which could frustrate the fans, given the chance to extend the Maldini legacy.

  1. No buyback clause?
He has shown before he had talent but didn’t get enough playing time here to develop.
Then he didn’t take a leap forward in his early development when he was loaned to other clubs until last year.

This summer there was something there and maybe he could have a breaking year but we sold him. Of course that is because we didn’t see higher potential in him.
But you should always put in a buyback clause! Always!

Now he has continued to show promising development although injured for a bit. Is he doing worse than some of our players?

There is a romantic connection for us with the name and maybe I am not seeing this clearly but there is something there. He just needs a bit more confidence and he can explode.

He wouldn’t be that expensive as someone who will give his heart for this club compared to some of the more expensive players we bring in.

F*** Gerry, Moncada, Zlatan and the idiots.

    1. No buy back clause. Trophyless cardinale milan don’t want maldini legacy to continue.

12 million for young italian national team is cheap.

  2. I would personally like to get him back. We could get him for 6 m. He is italian, good for the squad list. a good rotation option for the AMC role, which we are having a problem with. Pulisic the only one doing good there but he is doing better on the right. and RLC is not doing good.

    1. We have 50%resale clause. So if release is 12mln, we can get him for 6, but then again what a smart way of doing business: let the kid do for free to get him back for 6 millions. Meanwhile hoping that Pulisic won’t get injured cause only alternative at N10 is RLC.

      1. 6 mil development fee. Monza are doing good business.

Let him go, if you love milan, don’t put ball chain over any maldinis’ leg.
With current management, milan don’t deserve him anymore.

  3. If it ended up having cost us 6m for him to prove his worth, then whilst not great business it wouldn’t be the end of the world either.

The only thing is, I don’t see us even going for him. The current regime don’t seem interested in that particular legacy. They have even tarnished any potential marketing opportunities given his dad would likely not get involved.

Atalanta have a better shot at top 4 this year anyway so who could blame him if he goes, it’s not like he owes RB a debt of gratitude.

  4. Another Fail by Milan management. Small Atalanta are scouting, identifying and developing our players better than us, yet reaching similar objectives.

  5. Maldini will never have the space to properly develop at Milan. If I am Daniel I am ecstatic at the idea of developing under Gasperini.

  6. No since we have somebody like Daniel maldini he is going nowhere Acmilan will use him as one of our attacking midfield because he has proven against Milan that he has quality and talent.

  7. Gasperini would be good for Daniel. I wish him well. However he has NEVER convinced me as a player. People say he is shining with Monza. Hm… OK. Monza is a relegation zone team that won only one game so far this season. I’ll say, in the land of the blind, he who has one eye is king. Doing well with Monza for me is not impressive.

And I thought he was awful against us on Saturday. His finishing was atrocious.

I have no regrets that Daniel Maldini is no longer playing for Milan. I never thought he should be; I thought he was there more for the sake of his last name than for the sake of his skills (or lack thereof) as a footballer.

Sure, emotionally it would be nice to have the tradition of great players with the last name Maldini playing for us. But Daniel is no Paolo and no Cesare. Of the three Maldinis he is by VERY far the worst player.

  8. Daniel is good but not great (maybe not yet),
but fact that we put RLC as AM/SS & Chuck at RW both is the only rotation players there, make Daniel looks like great regret
