Di Marzio: Maldini and Massara working on trio of renewals – two could come soon

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping to be able to announce two renewals in the coming weeks and aim to follow that with Rafael Leao’s extension, a report claims.

In an article for the newspaper Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky spoke about the ongoing negotiations that the directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working on at present in view of the January transfer window.

He confirmed that the plan is to close agreements with Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud soon, to extend their respective deadlines beyond the current 2024 and 2023 respectively for the midfielder and the striker.

Then, they are also hoping to even convince Rafael Leao to continue at Milan too. Di Marzio adds that the the best ‘signings’ that the Rossoneri and Inter could make in January would be the renewal of two of the most crucial players in Leao and Milan Skriniar respectively.

  1. “Working on”? These things should have been settled months ago! They were “working on” Donnarumma, Calhanoglu, Romagnoli and Kessie’s renewals, I seem to remember… how did that end up?

Leao in particular should be sold NOW.

    1. It is called a negotiations, not pointing a gun to the players head and threatened them to sign the paper or their head will blown into pieces.

And Maldini & Masara already completed multiple renewal this season. From Tonali, Tomori, Kalulu, Calabria, Kjaer, Saelemakers, Krunic, Gabbia, and Pobega.

As a fan, you should RESPECT their works and stop acting like a child!

      1. these are all players who dont have other options, ofcourse they renew. Some of them arent even good enough for Milan and shouldnt play here. Renewing a Krunic Gabbia and Alexis is easy, they find it fantastic to play here. The players who are much better then them are important to renew, and most likely that wont happen

        1. You have a point here.
I have never read a report or a rumor of any Interest in Tomori from any club. Literally none.
There was a rumor floating around that PSG is interested in Kalulu, but seeing that he resigned for only 2 mil a season, that was nothing but a fake report.
There was a little rumor about maybe arsenal being interested in Tonali, but Italian players rarely leave Italy and even rarely succeed outside of serie A.
          Theo is the only exception.
The other players that Maldini resigned like Kjaer, Krunic, Saelemakers, Florenzi, Messias even most of our fans don’t want them let alone another club.
          So you have a point.
Besides Theo all the other resigned players had no better offer or opinion from another club

  2. Kalulu, Tomori, Tonali and definetly Theo had other options as well (even tho we must thank to Theos wife for that because she wanted to give birth to her son in italy). There are players that accept Milan and others that want something else. You can start negociating even after 1st year, if the player doesnt want u can do what u want, they wont renew. And keeping players like Calha, Donna and Kessie and using them especially Kessie proved to helped us win serie a. So i do agree with selling Leao BUT we cant get a proper backup for him in january and if is there someone available it till be very expensive. So you sell leao and invest in 1-3 players and focus on scudetto again or give him what he want to renew and sell him in summer for better options.
