CM: Maldini holds new talks over €33m summer deal – closure is now imminent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held new contracts over completing a deal for Lille defender Sven Botman ahead of the summer window, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the negotiations to bring Botman to the Rossoneri are in the final stages and a double agreement is imminent. The Dutch defender will accept the move, and and his club are about to accept Milan’s offer of €30m plus bonuses reaching €33m in total.

Four days ago technical director Paolo Maldini contacted Botman’s agents to reiterate the club’s will to close the deal in a short space of time, and in fact there is just one thing missing before everything is finally agreed.

Qualification for the next Champions League is now merely a formality, and that means the necessary resources to complete the operation will be secured, given the revenues the competitions brings. Important updates are expected in the coming weeks, but Botman is very close, something Jaap Stam is happy about.
