Maldini on the club project: “We don’t have the AC Milan of our dreams yet”

Since the start of the season, AC Milan’s project has been questioned by the media as well as the fans, having recorded their worst start to a campaign in a very long time.

However, the Rossoneri have improved since Stefano Pioli arrived at the club, although it still isn’t enough. Furthermore, there seem to be internal conflicts between the directors, relating to the club’s project and plans for the future.

By the looks of it, the outcome of this season could be worse than the last one, when Milan finished just one point behind the Champions League zone. Certainly, it would be a huge step backwards for the club, as the competition is so important.

In an interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews.it), Paolo Maldini outlined the project that they are working on, while also stating that they are far from done. Then again, there isn’t much patience in the Rossoneri environment after recent years.

“The steps are those of growth. Last year, we finished in fifth just one point from the Champions League, the idea is to improve this result. There is still a possibility, we will still have many opportunities to make a change to our season.

“We are doing the rest: a squad that is younger and less dense while decreasing the wages. We don’t have the AC Milan of our dreams yet, but we are working on it,” he concluded.
