AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has stressed the importance of passing down the values of the club on their 121st birthday.

On this day back in 1899, the Milan Cricket and Football Club were officially founded, led by the son of a Nottingham butcher: Herbert Kilpin.

Maldini spoke to Milan TV before the game against Genoa, beginning by sending his best wishes to the club on their 121st birthday.

“Best wishes to Milan who are my family. It is a season of great satisfaction, it is a pity that there are no fans at the stadiums,” he said.

“Happy birthday to my club which has long been linked to my family. Best wishes to all the fans of course.”

On the project: “Ours is a new project, we need time, we hope to shorten the time.”

On handing down certain values: “Passing on the old Milan is important.”

On his inclusion in the Dream Team: “For someone like me who has never won the Ballon d’Or this is an important thing. It is a great pride.”
