Maldini presents Donnarumma with award: “We all hope that the story can continue” – video

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini praised goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as he was presented with an award for reaching 200 appearances.

Donnarumma reached the prestigious milestone against Sassuolo on Tuesday evening, becoming the youngest even player in the club’s history to rack up 200 senior appearances.

Along with the other members of the management, Paolo Maldini presented Gigio with a special shirt and a medal to mark the occasion, stating: “The youngest player ever to reach this goal of the 200 games. We all hope that the story can continue for the fans, for your teammates and for the club. Congratulations.”

The president Paolo Scaroni also spoke : “We have prepared a small celebratory medal. This will be a record that will not beat anyone. 200 games with AC Milan at the age of 21.”

Finally Donnarumma sent a message to the fans: “Hi guys, 200 appearances for AC Milan are a great goal for me. I hope you can return to the stadium soon to give us more support. A hug to everyone.”

Now the attention turns to securing Donnarumma’s future in red and black, as his current contract expires in 2021.
