Maldini responds to Correa rumours and mercato speculation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini has remained coy about the club’s potential targets between now and the end of the mercato.

As MilanNews.it recently revealed, Maldini and co. are hard at work trying to find one final reinforcement for the attack with the window ready to slam shut on Monday.

A number of outlets have suggested that Angel Correa is the primary target, however La Gazzetta dello Sport recently stated that Milan and Atletico ‘have never been so far apart’ in negotiations.

Memphis Depay, Christian Kouame, Everton Soares and Mariano Diaz were all recently mentioned by Calciomercato.com as alternatives.

However, Sky Italia (via PianetaMilan) offered hope that a deal for Correa could still be on, as they revealed that the forward has not been called up for Atletico Madrid’s LaLiga game against Eibar on Sunday.

Maldini was asked by DAZN before the game against Brescia about potential movements in the mercato in the final 48 hours.

“There are so many names. The market is very particular, there are societal and sporting needs, we must do our best,” he said, via Calciomercato.com.

“Correa? we still have a day and a half, let’s see what happens.”

The Calciomercato article goes on to add that Correa is the number one goal, but time is running out to get a deal over the line.
