Referee Fabio Maresca got quite a big incident wrong during AC Milan’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The paper (via PianetaMilan) gave Maresca a score of 5.5 out of 10 in their ratings from the Gewiss Stadium, with one of the criticisms being that he dished out a total of eight yellow cards – including one to head coach Stefano Pioli – after failing to control the tempers with an early caution.
The incident that stands out was a crunching tackle from Hans Hateboer that left Rafael Leao screaming in pain and rolling around on the turf. It should have been a red card as per La Gazzetta as he lost control and the studs were showing.
Moreover, he should have seen the foul by Divock Origi who tried to score what would have been a winner inside the final 10 minutes, but Djimsiti got there at the vital moment and the Belgian instead kicked through the centre-back. Instead, a corner was awarded.
It’s Monday and Milan didn’t win, so let’s criticise referees – tick that one off your SM bingo card.

Yep. Kvaratskhelia putting our LW to shame. Should have sold Leao for 70m and gotten that guy. Instead we’re left with a lazy player who is asking for 8m a year to renew. Give that money to Bennacer instead. In the end I think we’ll be lucky to break even on Leao.
Leao is so overrated I even get angry when I look at him, Guy looks lazy as hell. The 8M is a joke, even I deserve that more. Give pieces of that money to Maignan Kalulu etc. Guy is only MVP because he scored some lucky goals from keepers or defenders faults but if someone pays 80M for him, please. The referee deserve the criticism though. And SM only translate the news from GdS, major paper.
If the referee make mistakes, which Maresca did, then he DESERVES the criticism. Even if say Milan win and Maresca made this mistake then he deserves the criticism.

Do not blame the reffree, Milan gifted Atalanta the one point. Look Leao strolling around the pitch, shooting instead of crossing or passing, delaying attack just because standing and trying to dribble, drifted from his wing constantly just to get on the ball and lose it while dribbling………even Tomori screamed at him to get forward to his wings
That was a Red but we had Atalanta at our pocket and would have killed of the game but we are just not clinical enough and some players think they are bigger than others
