CM: Mass summer clear-out could be on the cards for Milan as depth is questioned

The AC Milan management could embark on a clear out during the summer window as questions continue to be asked about the quality of depth available to Stefano Pioli, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report how Milan were worryingly outplayed in every area during the defeat against Fiorentina on Saturday night, with accusations being put forward that they were not fully focused given Wednesday’s Champions League match against Tottenham is looming.

The report states that without Rafael Leao, Milan are not a top-level team as he is a player who even on off-days is capable of creating something from nothing and providing a spark to drag an unbalanced attack through tough games.

The first alternative to the Portuguese forward is Ante Rebic and the Croatian is completely disconnected from the rest of the team. Then there is Divock Origi who simply has not got going since his arrival in the summer, while on the right flank Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers are two players with guaranteed work rate but with are evident lacking from a technical point of view.

It also seems that Ismael Bennacer’s new reserve is Tiemoue Bakayoko based on the Monza and Fiorentina games, so the management will also have to ask some questions about Tommaso Pobega and Aster Vranckx who have vanished off radar.

In short, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will have to do some serious work on sales in the summer which is an area that they have not yet had a proper examination.
