Massara: “There is no news on Ibrahimovic, because this is not a negotiation”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan sporting director Ricky Massara has denied being in negotiations with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a return to the club.

Ibrahimovic is Milan’s main target for the January transfer window to help a team which has scored just 13 goals in the first 14 rounds of the season.

The club’s owners Elliott Management have seemingly agreed that there is the need to add more experience to the squad in the upcoming window, and SportMediaset (via MilanNews.it) recently reported that Ibrahimovic and Milan are getting closer and closer in terms of offer and request.

Newspaper il Corriere della Sera (as cited by MilanNews.it) even claimed on Sunday the dream of the Rossoneri leadership is to present Zlatan on December 15 at the club’s 120th birthday party.

However, Massara spoke to Sky Italia ahead of Milan’s 1-0 win over Parma and poured cold water on the idea that a deal is close.

“There is no news on Ibrahimovic, because this is not a negotiation,” the director of sport told Sky Italia (via MilanNews.it).

“He is evaluating his future. He is on the market, but there are no developments.

“We are all aware that Milan represent a glorious history and at times this can feel like a weight on our shoulders, but we are convinced that the team is improving. We’ve got to get into gear, win and improve our position.”
