Massara touches on important topics and confirms Donnarumma talks: “We are dealing with his agent”

In just a few minutes, Milan will take on Sparta Praha for the second round of the Europa League group. Beating Celtic 3-1 last time out, the Rossoneri will be looking to add three more points to their tally.

Stefano Pioli’s men have started the season in the best way possible, now on 21 games unbeaten, and directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been praised. Despite limited resources, they strengthen the team this summer.

In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews.it, Massara spoke about several important topics. In addition to the January transfer window, he was asked about the contract of Gigio Donnarumma, which will expire in June.

On the renewal of Donnarumma: “It is a current issue, we are dealing with his agent, we have been talking about it for a long time. There is a will to extend and do it without haste, but with the awareness that it is a goal that we will try to achieve.”

On the January transfer market: “The centre-back position could have been an emergency, we will recover Gabbia and hopefully Musacchio. We will evaluate if there are opportunities to strengthen ourselves, if we feel in difficulty in that department we will intervene.”

He was also asked about Sandro Tonali, who has been gradually inserted into the starting eleven by Pioli. The start, however, hasn’t been easy for the Brescia man and he still needs time to get to his best.

On Tonali: “I see him well, he’s a guy who needs to play continuously. He has joined a team with well-established mechanisms, with two midfielders who are doing very well. We are very serene, he will express his qualities, we are calm. We are convinced that he is a very strong player,” he concluded.
