Mayor Sala confirms he will meet Milan owner Cardinale today over stadium plans

By Oliver Fisher -

The Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala has revealed that he will speak with AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale today about the new stadium plans.

There are now a number of sources reporting that Milan are seriously considering ditching the project with Inter that has been in the pipelines for four years now amid frustrations over the delays in the bureaucratic process and concerns over Inter’s financial state.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reported that there was a meeting between the two clubs and Sala yesteday during which the Rossoneri officially announced that they are interested in building a new stadium on their own on the land at the La Maura racetrack.

ANSA report that Sala has confirmed a meeting will take place today with Cardinale in which the Rossoneri’s plans for the new stadium and a potential change in site will be discussed, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“This afternoon I will meet Gerry Cardinale to understand if Milan really want to go to the La Maura area, and therefore understand what to do,” he said.
