Mediaset: Chelsea’s protective move has not changed Milan’s plan to sign striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan still consider Olivier Giroud to be a concrete target for the attacking department even despite Chelsea’s protective move, a report claims.

According to what Claudio Raimondi has told SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Giroud remains a concrete transfer target for Milan even despite the news on Friday that an extension in his deal with the Blues has been triggered which will see him under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2022.

The renewal was a decision from Chelsea and it was done to prevent him from going free to a fellow Premier League team, while there is also the possibility that the west London club wanted to use the opportunity to make something – however small – from the sale of the 34-year-old.

Now it appears to be a waiting game to see whether a concrete offer will arrive from another club, whether Giroud pushes for the exit and whether the Blues are happy to let him leave on good terms.
