Mediaset: Gazidis revolution could trigger domino effect – Ibrahimovic, Donnarumma may leave

By Oliver Fisher -

CEO Ivan Gazidis will have to persuade Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma to stay at the club and form part of his ‘new Milan’, a report claims.

There is an abundance of speculation in the media claiming Zvonomir Boban and Paolo Maldini will depart their roles as directors in the summer due to disagreements with Gazidis.

The South African wants to build a new Milan under Ralf Rangnick and it will be necessary to see which of the current players will be part of it, Sportmediaset are reporting (via MilanLive).

There are doubts about whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic will stay, as his contract expires in June 2020 and he was brought back to Milan by Maldini and Boban couple, which means he could now leave.

Mino Raiola, Ibrahimovic’s agent, has repeatedly criticised that ambition of the Elliott project and the new corporate revolution may upset him. Obviously though it is the player who decides his future, and Gazidis has for his part wants the Swede to remain.

If Ibrahimovic decided to leave, there would be the risk of triggering a domino effect with the farewell of other players. The future of Gianluigi Donnarumma is at risk, another player represented by Raiola, whose contract expires in June 2021 and must be renewed in the coming months.
