Mediaset: Milan hoping to close deal for Chelsea forward in next 36 hours – he is one step away

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to close a deal for Chelsea and France striker Olivier Giroud by the end of Tuesday, according to a report.

MilanNews recently reported how Giroud was close to an agreement with Milan, but then Chelsea announced that they had exercised their unilateral extension which means he will be under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2022 and that seemed to complicate things.

However, according to what Claudio Raimondi has told SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Giroud is one step away from Milan. Within the next 36 hours the deal could go through on the basis of a two-year deal worth €4m net per season, while Milan will not give any compensation to Chelsea.

It would be a welcome reinforcement for the attacking department given the doubts about Ibrahimovic’s condition after his injury. Milan seem to be in pole position for Giroud therefore, who is currently focused on the Euros with France, leaving his agents in charge.
