Mediaset: Milan ready to go back in for €40m-rated Serie A defender in January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will go back in for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic having failed in their pursuit over the summer, according to a report.

Milan were linked with a lot of defensive targets during the summer like Kristoffer Ajer and Wesley Fofana, plus Ozan Kabak, Antonio Rudiger and Mohamed Simakan on deadline day, but no defender arrived.

The name that was most frequently linked over the window though was Nikola Milenkovic, but it became apparently that La Viola had set an asking price well above what Milan were willing to pay.

According to what reported by SportMediaset (via MilanNews), the management of several teams are already looking ahead to the January window for potential opportunities, and Milan are no different.

The report adds that in the last days of the transfer market, Milan did not manage to secure either of Kabak or Simakan, but the intention of the Rossoneri in January is to try again for Milenkovic.

They add that the Serbia international is unlikely to renew his current deal which expires in 2022, meaning La Viola may have no choice but to sell him off. His value over the summer was €40m, as per the same source.
