Messias ahead but Saelemaekers will fight for starting spot against Juventus

By Isak Möller -

Junior Messias is expected to play from start for the third consecutive game in spite of his poor form, with AC Milan taking on Juventus tomorrow. Alexis Saelemaekers hasn’t given up just yet, though.

Stefano Pioli has opted for consistency in the least two games, fielding the exact same XI, and he’s expected to continue the trend tomorrow against Juventus. This means that Messias is in pole position to start on the right flank.

Milan had their final training session ahead of the game earlier today and it remains to be seen if Saelemaekers did enough to change Pioli’s mind. Perhaps more answers will be given during the manager’s press conference (13:45 CEST).

One theory is that Milan want to showcase Messias ahead of the summer transfer window, but it hasn’t gone according to plan so far given his poor performances. The fans will be hoping for a better one tomorrow, that’s for sure.

  1. Not sure how Messias is better than Alexis… he has been awful for months, but keeps getting the nod every time.
