Messias happy with ‘useful results’ but admits Milan must ‘improve in attack’

Junior Messias has spoken to the media ahead of AC Milan’s game against Atalanta tomorrow evening. After scoring the winner against Monza, the Brazilian is expected to get the chance to start again.

Milan secured their third consecutive win last time out as they beat Monza away from home. Messias was the big hero as he scored the only goal of the game with a half-volley effort, ending Monza’s eight-game unbeaten run.

Speaking to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, Messias shared his thoughts on what has changed for Milan over the last couple of weeks. After seven games without a win, they now have a much-needed defensive stability.

“We defend better, we got some useful results without conceding a goal. We need to improve in attack. This season has given us some awareness, without considering the negative period we are there two points behind Inter. If Napoli hadn’t had this season, we would still have hoped for the Scudetto. They are having an extraordinary season,” he stated.

As mentioned, Messias should play from the first minute against Atalanta, once again making sure Alexis Saelemaekers starts on the bench. The feeling is that the latter will get the chance against Spurs, though, given his playing style.
