Romano: ‘Here we go!’ – AC Milan agree ‘Bennacer replacement’ deal with Monza for Bondo

The move for Warren Bondo has moved really quickly, as things typically do on Deadline Day, and the Frenchman will join AC Milan on a permanent deal.

With Ismael Bennacer seemingly pushing for a move to Marseille, Milan have been forced to look to the mercato for another midfielder, and they have chosen to act on their long-standing admiration for Monza’s Warren Bondo.

Things have accelerated massively in the past two hours, with discussions cementing pretty quickly, and with things starting to be finalised in the past hour, an announcement of a completed deal has been expected.

His agent was seen heading to Casa Milan in the last hour to tie up the deal, and now the information has arrived that the deal has been finalised between Milan and Monza by Fabrizio Romano.

In a tweet just now, the journalist states that the clubs have agreed on a permanent transfer worth €10 million this evening, and he will replace Ismael Bennacer, whose move to Marseille has also been given the same certification.

It has been an exciting deadline day for the Rossoneri, and it may be finished now with the signing of Bondo. A huge signing from the club, considering his potential and the fact it is permanent rather than a loan.

  1. with this signing, we have now reached contender status, we were just a joke before then….Bondo, fofana, reijnders, thats a good trio, plus gimenez and joao felix, we are back, we should be able to compete with anybody now

    1. Fofana and Reindjers need to be well rested for efficiency, I just hope this coach can give out youth players chance to prove thier worth.

        1. I don’t even count RLC as useful. He is also injured quite often lately. Musah playing as a winger lately a lot. We are missing one more proper midfielder to rotate.

        1. We’re getting half a new squad in the January window who’ve never played together and a new coach. We’ve got to play European games, which not all of the rivals do. The game in hand is away to a team ahead of us in the league and the top 3 have a big lead over fourth.

We can do it. But it’s going to be hard.

On the plus side, hopefully there’s a positive atmosphere and there’s a decent chance of Italy getting 5 UCL slots next year.

      1. Wao 😀
Milan finally ganusi . Bennacer tried only as for me one more experienced mid crazy attacking player needed

    2. Contender for what? There is no replacements. Look at benches of other clubs, some of those players could even play in Milan first team. If you have with 2 midfielder formation you can’t have 3 and pray that everything goes well. If they signed Bondo and Bennacer left it would be an ok situation.

  2. Crazy window! Gimenez, Felix, Sottil, Bondo and Walker in. Morata, Jovic?, Okafor, Bennacer and Calabria out.

Only minus is we lose an academy player and dont gain one. Althou I guess Bondo counts as a under 22 and can be registered without limitations anyway? And Sottil counts as an home grown player? So they dont really fill the squad spots that Bennacer and Okafor leave from the 17 non italian player slots?

  3. Can someone tell me about more about Bondo? I know nothing about him. What kind of midfielder am I looking at here? Defensive? Offensive? Is he a playmaker?

    1. Defensive. Aggressive, lots of energy, great tackles, good mobility too. And on the other plus side he’s young and already knows the league.

  4. Good to trim deadwood players off the squad; that is the first step to fixing our depth (bench-quality) problem especially in midfield.

I think RLC should be sold in the summer and we get to keep Adli.
For me Adli seems like the ‘closest thing’ the a ‘reijnders deputy’ ; has great vision, eye for goal, can be an extra creative outlet ( also dictate play) in a midfield trio.
If management has to find a deputy rejnders because we do not have a similar profile in midfield (methinks Adli).
Go shop for Reijnders deputy/ a ‘Tonali type’ please!!!
Over-playing is also responsible for Bennacer’s decline and Reijnders well managed.
