Milan and Arsenal dealt transfer blow as interest in Barcelona midfielder is confirmed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in a move for Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig but they are unlikely to be able to land him in January, reports claims.

PianetaMilan reported earlier in the month that manager Ronald Koeman has accused Puig of being a mole in the locker room which is why in January he could leave, and Paolo Maldini is alert to the opportunity.

Milan want to take advantage of their excellent relationship with Barcelona to start an interesting operation, with an offer of a loan for 18 months with an obligation to buy set at €13m having been sent as per the source, and well-known journalist Carlo Pellegatti talked up the idea too.

According to the latest from Anto Vitiello of MilanNews on Twitter, Milan are admirers of Puig but at the moment there is no negotiation ongoing.

Fabrizio Romano meanwhile claims that Barcelona – at the moment – are not planning to loan out Riqui Puig in January and his contract will be extended until June 2023 with a release clause to be inserted.

“We will have to see what happens because he is not playing, it’s up to the club to decide about a possible loan, probably next summer rather than January,” he adds on his podcast.

Meanwhile, The Athletic are reporting that Arsenal could swoop for the 21-year-old.
