ML: Few certainties and many doubts – how Milan could overhaul their attack this summer

AC Milan’s attacking department is expected to undergo big changes this summer with only certain players guaranteed of a stay, a report claims.

MilanLive report that the only two players actually guaranteed of a stay are Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic would sign a new deal if he chooses to continue his playing career into his 40s.

It is clear that in the summer Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will aim to add some quality and the report adds that Marco Asensio is a target, but only if the price is right with regards to transfer fee and salary. There is also a lot of interest for Domenico Berardi but Milan do not want to spend more than €15-20m, with the demands being €30m.

Despite the rumours about an early return, Brahim Diaz appears destined to stay for at least one more season therefore until the end of his loan in summer 2023, and then evaluations will be made.

Ante Rebic on the other hand must get his form back in the last seven league games, and then the club will decide whether to listen to offers for him. The same goes for Alexis Saelemaekers too, but the feeling is that Pioli still wants to bet on him.

Junior Messias has started on the right wing in most games so far in 2022 and the Brazilian was really close to being bought permanently, but now things have changed and if he does not improve he will return to Crotone.

Then, it must be remembered that Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli will return from their loads, and if necessary they – a bit like Kessie does – will be able to play behind the striker. Renato Sanches could also do that if he were to join.
