Reports: Milan will have to battle Real Madrid for signing of Atalanta striker

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are going to have to do battle with current European champions Real Madrid if they are to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in the summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by various outlets in Spain (via Calciomercato.com), there is lots of interest in the Danish striker who has been one of the most impressive players in Serie A this season.

He has spearheaded the Atalanta attack as La Dea have overcome a poor start to the season and are now firmly in the fight for Champions League qualification.

Juventus and Milan have been linked with a move for Hojlund but now it seems that Real Madrid, fresh from their 5-2 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, are also chasing the striker.

The 20-year-old has scored six goals and got two assists in 19 Serie A games this season, as well as a goal in the Coppa Italia earlier in the campaign.

  1. Real Madrid aren’t interested and Milan aren’t going to spend a fortune on a player after one decent season, especially with cheaper alternatives e.g. Beto.

    1. Maldini literally spent a fortune
(for Milan financial means), 70% of our summer funds on a player after one decent season, even though most people in Belgium were saying he isn’t ready yet to leave the Jupiter league, while there were cheaper and way more ready alternatives.

    2. I think he is exactly what Milan needs, can hold the ball, combine/pass with his teammates, has pace and is young and afordable. I can’t think of any other striker that would be more suitable for Milan style of play without costing a fortune.

  2. CDK wasn’t ‘decent’, he was outstanding in his league and the high price was due to interest from EPL clubs. Cheaper alternatives? Oh, really? And which tall, 21 year old forwards could Milan have signed?

    1. He was “outstanding” for 1 year in a lower level league than serie A, like the Jupiter league.
You said Milan wouldn’t waste a fortune after one decent year on a player. How can you say that after the CDK signing after 1 decent or outstanding year, whatever term you wanna use.
Which tall 21 year old forward Milan could have signed?
Why does he have to be 21 and tall or even a forward?
But Hojlund is one of them I guess. He was 19, tall forward who has adjusted waaaaay better to the bew league and environment than CDK, for half the price BTW.

  3. I doubt Real are looking at him so we may have a chance. I hear there is interest in CDK, so let’s sell him while he’s still worth something and get someone like this guy who’s already proved himself in Italy.

  4. Well… Piatek was amazing for one season in Serie A. And where is he now? I’d wait to see if this guy has just been lucky and can score more than two goals next season.
