AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is preparing his side for the big derby against Inter on Saturday evening and he is thinking of a surprise move for the attack, a report claims.
The mission is for the Rossoneri to win and keep the fight for the Scudetto alive while also giving a signal to the contenders for a place in the top four. MilanNews report that Pioli is studying the idea of playing Franck Kessie in place of Brahim Diaz as the attacking midfielder.
The thinking is that Kessie’s physicality can cause problems for Inter’s deeper-lying midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in the build-up phase and could also force him to play deeper as the Ivorian knows when to go in behind and stretch the defence.
Then, having Tonali and Bennacer in the double pivot can give the Rossoneri more pace and increases the chances of Milan’s vertical play being quicker and sharper. The third reason is that Kessie showed against Empoli that he can perform higher up the field and be effective.
