AC Milan will be managed by Ruben Amorim next, as confirmed this morning, and the Portuguese has several positives.
After three weeks of names, rejections, new names and old names. Milan will name Amorim as their next head coach. There can be no denying that it has been a long process, but the club believes it has been worthwhile to find the right candidate.

Amorim heading to Milan
According to this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Amorim has an agreement with the club and only the final approval is needed after positive meetings in London.
With an attacking style of play, the Portuguese prefers a 3-4-3 system, but would not be afraid to commit more men forward, if required. His rise in management has been rapid and whilst his stock took a hit in Manchester, he remains an exciting young coach.
He wouldn’t demand a massive salary and he is motivated to come back into the elite circle with the Rossoneri. After all, the club had even considered him to replace Stefano Pioli, now is his chance to show what he can do.
The other candidates
In terms of the other candidates, Matthias Jaissle rose to be the second favourite at the tail-end of last week. He is seen as ‘one of the new faces’ of German football, but the major issue would be freeing him from his contract with Al Ahli.
He would be a great hire, but the €12 million release clause is enough to put the Rossoneri off, even if he would make sacrifices himself.
Without Rangnick in place, Oliver Glasner’s chances of joining the club only fell and it seemed he was having reservations about the move without the German’s position within the Diavolo.
He doesn’t have a great relationship with Markus Krösche, the report claims, so this would be why his chances aren’t expected to increase with the German’s arrival.
Finally, Mauricio Pochettino was a bit of a non-starter. He is at the World Cup, which makes him unapproachable for a while yet, and a comeback from this position seems difficult. A line can be drawn through that idea now.
He was chosen because his wages are even lower than Allegri’s own. Let’s wait till all the contract clauses are revealed. They had some rather bemusing clauses inserted in Conceicao’s contract, if I remember well.
