AC Milan must now get to grips with the renewal of Rafael Leao after extending Ismael Bennacer’s contract, and a big offer is reportedly ready.
According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will meet with Leao’s lawyer Ted Dimvula upon returning to Italy after the Supercoppa against Inter in Saudi Arabia, looking to finally reach an agreement for the renewal of the Portuguese forward.
The talks will get underway immediately after the Supercoppa and there is a sense of confidence on the part of Milan that they can get Leao to sign on the dotted line after several months of tough negotiations and a lot of obstacles to tackle.
Behind this optimism there is certainly the fact that the Rossoneri management are ready to put what they consider to be a sizeable offer on the plate: a contract until 2027 with a salary of €6.5m net per season plus €1.2m in potential bonuses.
Milan believe it is a financial effort that demonstrates how much they want to keep their strongest player. There are also other details to be sorted such as the €150m release clause currently only exercisable in the first two weeks of July, but the meeting with Dimvula will be needed to define these details.
