It cannot be ruled out that AC Milan go in for a new striker during the winter transfer window, according to Matteo Moretto.
Throughout the summer transfer window, Milan were linked with various different names after Igli Tare publicly declared the plan to make a new centre-forward available for the incoming head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Various names came close to joining such as Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Boniface and Conrad Harder, but in the end the number nine shirt remains vacant. There were even suggestions of a Gimenez-Dovbyk swap deal in the final hours of the transfer window.
This deal didn’t pan out, leaving the attacking line unchanged except for the arrival of Christopher Nkunku, who – while a very useful profile that cost over €35m – is certainly not a natural striker like some of the other names.
‘We will see’
Matteo Moretto spoke about the topic of Milan’s next No.9 in a video posted on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, with his words translated below.
“As for Milan’s striker, from what I understand, they want to see how Milan’s season is going, how the team is managing, and how certain players react to Allegri’s work before potentially targeting a striker in January or not. I think it’s a little early to say. We’ll see in the coming months,” he said.
“Milan, however, have one competition [no European football]. If they find the right balance in terms of results and consistency, as it seems, there’s no need to intervene in January, in a window that presents you with opportunities… but perhaps they can wait to June for a different plan.”
I completely agree with Moretto. Its a bit too soon in my opinion to say we need another striker considering we have 4 players fighting for the 2 strimer spots. That being said 3 of the players fighting for those spots arent strikers at all, but we can safely say (for now) that they are doing well in it. I think June would make more sense to get a new striker considering we will be most probably (read hopefully) playing in the champions league also.
The team is doing well for now but If we can get Vlahovich cheaply,why not?
If Milan can be consistent we dont need to buy anyone in January (except for long term injuries or opportunities)
With our squad filled with young players, they can only improve with players like Modric and Rabiot being a good influence.
All of this noise is not helping Gimenez for sure….Vlahovic was the story of the summer and Tare spent the last few weeks of the window working to replace Gimenez. I’ll be surprised if Tare isn’t lining up a 9 to replace Gimenez in January.
I really want to see what Rafa can do up top. I know he played that role many seasons ago and didn’t thrive, but look at the difference between old Saele and new Saele. Rafa even scored a convincing header before the injury, something we almost never saw from him before
