Moretto: Milan and Sporting Director D’Ottavio set to split after ‘disagreements’ with Ibrahimovic

AC Milan are set to reshuffle the management, with a report suggesting that Antonio D’Ottavio will leave the club due to friction with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

D’Ottavio joined the club in 2017 and in recent years has held the role of the Chief Scout for the senior and youth teams, but with the management changing recently, a new direction is seemingly preferred.

Today, Matteo Moretto has reported that D’Ottavio and Milan will part ways, and this was decided before the game against Atalanta – rather than being a kneejerk reaction to the defeat. The Sporting Director was also a key part in creating the Futuro project before Jovan Kirovski joined the club earlier this year.

Moretto’s report also states that the reasoning for this was due to ‘friction and disagreements’ with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s views.

Given the Swede is set to lead the Rossoneri into the January mercato, this may have been a stumbling block, or perhaps it could be due to the general control of the mercato that Ibra possesses, but this is not clarified.

Ultimately, it is not the first rumblings of staff at the club having disagreements with Zlatan, which does not bode well, and it is something to watch for the future.
