Due to injuries, AC Milan have been made to change their mercato strategy, however, reinforcements will depend on when players come back.
It almost feels like last season in the way that Milan are struggling with injuries at present. The 2023/24 campaign was nightmarish for the medical department, and a similar trend can not occur this season.
At present, there are five players in the injury room, which has ‘forced a review of the mercato strategy’, and Calciomercato.com have looked at the injuries themselves and the timeframe for their recovery.
We start with the obvious one, Emerson Royal. With a move away more than feasible, he was selected for the game against Girona and found himself injured after only four minutes. The Brazilian has suffered a ‘high grade’ injury to the right calf, and it seems that he will be sidelined for around three months.
Alessandro Florenzi’s absence is still being felt, but the Italian now ‘sees the light’. He should be back on the field in March, and this is due to his hard work after the injury.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek hopes to return in February, after a relapse with his right biceps femoris. Sergio Conceicao could be more careful with the injury too to avoid further issues.
Malick Thiaw is also recovering from a similar injury, but his situation is viewed slightly more positively. He aims to be back on the field for the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro on February 2, less than a month after the injury.
Finally, Samuel Chukwueze should be back for Sunday, when Milan face Parma at San Siro. The Nigerian winger has not featured for Sergio Conceicao so far, so he will hope to get a chance to make an impact.
i want emerson out but now when he is injured we wont be able to sell him but he shouldnt play at all
In summer there is huge list for available players on departure….
But many of them are on large salaries and may not want to leave. Sometimes you need the coach to work with what we have rather than just saying ‘get rid of them all’.
I just hope we don’t treat any valid first team player the way we did Origi and FBT and freeze them out, because it just takes away any value they have and costs us an option.
I don’t care who they sell among the names circulating because they are all average players but if they can sign Gimenez and then Joao Felix on loan to add to Walker then it’s gonna be the first piece of good mercato work under Redbird. I’m super skeptical about their ability to pull this off though.
Even then, it would be a fix to their own huge pile of mess but better late than never. I don’t see a chance to salvage a CL place any other way.
Do you seriously think we will sign Gimennez and Felix???👀👀👀👀👀
Do you not know we are owned by Redbird mate?😂
Moncada carefully monitoring the situation
Emerson won’t play in the next two months, which is a blessing. That in itself is an improvement. They can still offload him in the summer. Win/Win so far.
Just when we were almost free of emerson… the irony is he’s ironically more useless on the pitch than off injured, at least now he can’t cost us goals
Take Emerson off the UCL and Serie A lists and add Kyle Walker there.
Shouldn’t be an issue. He’ll be back around April, so we’ll sell him in the summer I guess.
