AC Milan are expected to sign a ‘great quality right winger’ during the summer transfer window as a ‘gift’ to Stefano Pioli, a journalist has claimed.
Compared to the devastating form of Rafael Leao on the left flank, Milan’s right side has been highlighted by many as an area that needs intervention ahead of the 2022-23 season as Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have been rotated due to the fact neither has been able to find much form.
Manuele Baiocchini spoke on Sky (via MilanNews) about what Milan’s moves could be in the next transfer window, beginning by stating that the whispers of a move for Federico Bernardeschi once his deal with Juventus expires at the end of the season seem wide of the mark because he is not what is ‘needed specifically’.
However, he adds that the club ‘want to give Stefano Pioli a great quality right winger as a gift for next season’ because at the moment Saelemaekers and Messias are not convincing. The latter would cost €5.5m to buy permanently from Crotone, so Milan are making some evaluations.
Baiocchini adds that there ‘cannot be three’ for that position so Milan make a big investment in that area of the pitch, one of the two – Saelemaekers or Messias – will not stay.
Well Messias can leave if we will buy a new starter. Saelemakers is young, still has time.
Send Saelemaekers out on loan with option to buy like Hauge.
Messias Jr has eye for goal and has been decisive with two assists in the last two games. Keep Messias for depth and impact. The best he can get is a 2-year deal considering his age, which is fair – and he’ll be cheap too.
That gives Milan the chance to scout improvements or bring back Saelemaekers if he has improved. Or sell him too for profit and bring another RW.
First of all milan highly likely wont sell saelemaekers as he recently renewed his contract untill 2026. He also just reached hundred games for the club where maldini told him that he hoped he would have a long career with the club. So those facts would hint at a stay but obviously you never know what might happen. He is also very young and has great room for improvement both as a player and as an asset.
On the other hand i do agree messias is currently the player of the two that atleast can offer the most forward so getting the brazilian and a 1rst choice for the right wing and then loaning out saelemaekers to a club where he will start but also be one of the players with a greater responsebility might actually make him take the next step up the latter in his developement. I wouldnt oppose such idea but selling outright currently would be a shortsighted decision in my view.

Sell or loan lord saladmaker ,activate junior option and use him as back up RW. Lastly buy quality RW like raphinha ( if Leeds relegated)/Mahrez/Ziyech/Antony/Asensio
