MN: Milan forward Giroud expected to start for France with Hernandez on the bench

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud is expected to start for France against Australia in their World Cup opener but Theo Hernandez is expected to be on the bench, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, the French team are undergoing their final preparations ahead of their opening match of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

It was assumed that Karim Benzema would be the starting striker for Les Bleus at the tournament and Giroud would play a backup role, but an injury for Benzema means that he is out of the reckoning.

That means Giroud is expected to be the main man upfront and will be working with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antione Griezmann to get a strong result.

As for the other French Milan player, Hernandez is expected to be on the bench which likely means that his brother, Lucas, will be starting at left-back on Tuesday.
