GdS: Mixed news ahead for Milan ahead of Inter clash regarding Ibrahimovic and Kessie

By Oliver Fisher -

There is some ‘bittersweet’ news for Stefano Pioli to digest ahead of the crucial derby against Inter which will be one week on Saturday, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that preparations for the derby began at Milanello yesterday as the team reconvened for training. On the one hand there is good news on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will ready for the resumption of the season.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Swede will be available to Pioli for the big match versus Inter because the latest tests have ruled out any injury, while inflammation of the right achilles tendon has been confirmed, a problem that can be overcome quickly with the right therapy.

On the other hand there is bad news about Franck Kessie, who got an injury in the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 defeat on penalties against Egypt which forced him off after less than half an hour.

The first diagnosis is of a simple chest contusion, so recovery times should be short, but the blow must have been strong to force Kessie to come off in tears after just half an hour in a huge game. The player’s return to Italy is awaited to get a more precise idea of how he is.

  1. If you want to beat Inter, start Ibra from the bench. Starting him with fresh young opponents means they’ll contain him easily and he’ll eventually tire out. Then Pioli is too scared to sub him because he expects some magic from him.

    1. Did you watch any games this season? Ibra has actually been more dangerous at the end of the games when it comes to chance creation. This critique against the strikers is kind of tiresome and not really based on facts. Literally all strikers would struggle scoring and creating chances if they are playing at top level and are supported by the likes of Diaz, Salemaekers and Krunic.

  2. I still have complete and utter faith in Giroud..
When he is fit ,his is technically brilliant ..
Write him off and your own peril.
This Ac Milan team has plenty of goals in it ..Ibramavic is also far from finished …Older perhaps but still able to perform at top level ..provide Giroud with the right service and he will deliver .
We can still at least finnish second in the league, and win the coppa cup ..
