CM: Milan draw up individual plan as Origi begins battle to secure his future at the club

Divock Origi has not had the best of starts to life at AC Milan with just one goal to his name, and he is reportedly already battling for his future.

Calciomercato.com recall how Origi’s first few months with Milan have been far from memorable, not only due to the consequences of the injury sustained in the last part of his time at Liverpool, but also because he has struggled to make an impact since regaining full fitness.

With 14 total appearances for a total of 503 minutes played, it is a bit disappointing that the Belgian has just one goal to his name in the 4-1 win against Monza. Simply put, Milan need more from their deputy to Olivier Giroud.

For this reason, Pioli’s staff have planned a special work programme for Origi, with personalised athletic training according to his parameters which can help him get back in shape. In addition, ad hoc tactical lessons will be provided, to try highlight where to improve.

In the mind of Pioli, Maldini and Massara, Origi is a player capable of guaranteeing physical strength and goals, but in 2023 everyone expects him to do more. Only at the end of the season will the conclusions be drawn, and if he were to continue to be unconvincing then a sale would be a possibility given it would generate a capital gain after he arrived on a free.
