Sport: Milan made attempt to bring Kessie back from Barcelona – the background

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan did make an attempt to bring Franck Kessie back to the club during the January transfer window, according to a report.

According to SPORT, Kessie was one of the players that was most heavily linked with a potential exit from Barcelona during the January window given his lack of playing time and the possibility to free up wages, but in the end he remained.

Several options were discussed with the Ivorian and there were two clubs above all who showed an interest in signing him in Tottenham and Milan, who meet in the Champions League last 16.

The Rossoneri lost Kessie to the Catalan club during the summer on a free transfer and have not been able to fill the void left by his departure, while Antonio Conte’s team were also keen on bolstering their midfield, but the player opted to stay and fight for a place.

So far in 2023 there has been an upturn in fortunes for Kessie after Busquets’ injury, as he scored and got an assist in the same game recently, and now he aims to be important on a consistent basis.

  1. blah blah blah report. Pretty sure maldini already said that it was a closed chapter and kessie would not return to the club so that report is clearly fabricated by some some spanish journalist that couldnt come up with something more interesting.
