GdS: Milan’s left-sided pairing worth €100m and is among the best in Europe

One of the strengths of Stefano Pioli’s time with AC Milan so far has been his ability to transform individuals by creating the right conditions for them to grow and develop.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, Milan’s left flank is among the best in Europe and it is thanks to Theo Hernandez at left-back and Rafael Leao ahead of him at left wing. The paper claims that the value of the duo has rocketed since they arrived in the summer of 2019, with a combined worth of €100m, or €50m each.

Pioli meanwhile continues to reiterate his stance that they are excellent players, but not yet top players and they must continue to work hard to become the best in their position in the world. However, Milan can enjoy them for now because nobody comes close to the Frenchman and the Portuguese in Italy for rhythm, speed, tactical creativity and scoring chances created.

Chemistry is a big part of it too, because when the full-back decides to surge forward, creating superiority in the middle, Leao remains wider. If Theo is wider, then Leao gets himself into almost a support striker role. Together they have scored 9 goals (5 for Leao and 4 for Hernandez) and have added 8 assists (5 for Theo and 3 for Rafael).
