AC Milan know that Matteo Gabbia is at a crucial stage in his career and that is why they will consider loaning him out this summer, a report claims.
Gabbia was called upon to partner Pierre Kalulu in January as Alessio Romagnoli had Covid-19 while Fikayo Tomori had been out after undergoing knee surgery and Simon Kjaer is a long-term absentee. He is clearly a player that the management believe in for the future given he recently extended his deal until 2026, but now he is back to being on the bench as a fourth choice.
According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan must figure out what to do with Gabbia in the summer and it will depend on how the centre-back department looks numerically.
He could be loaned to play continuously which is obviously a necessity for the 22-year-old, and he would have gone out on loan already in January if Stefano Pioli’s rearguard hadn’t been in crisis due to injuries.

Would have already been loaned out if not for the injury/Covid crisis at the start of the year.
The real difficult decision is Kalulu in my opinion. If everyone is fit he’s the third choice as right back and fourth choice (assuming Botman gets in) as center back.

If Milan gets a replacement for Romagnoli then they can loan him but i feel like they will not spend any and keep Gabbia. He needs to do better, as Kalulu is a right back and still gets a call in central before Gabbia.

Maybe a loan. But with Romagnoli will leave for Lazio and Kjaer still 50-50 if he can go back to his prime after ACL, i say keep Gabbia.
