Footmercato: Milan, Liverpool and Dortmund enquire about Lyon star – the situation

A number of clubs are monitoring the situation surrounding Rayan Cherki, a report claims, and AC Milan are among them.

Milan might have to undergo some big changes in the forward department this summer, and not just because the arrival of Igli Tare as the sporting director is imminent, with a change in head coach also expected.

There are doubts about whether Samuel Chukwueze will remain at the club as well as whether Riccardo Sottil’s loan will be made permanent. Thus, there could be just Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic left on the flanks, and no natural attacking midfielder.

AC Milan in Cherki race

According to what is being reported by Santi Aouna of Footmercato, many clubs are closely following Rayan Cherki. Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and even Milan are keen, and have held talks with Lyon.

For the moment, the Ligue 1 club have not received any offers for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. However, that will probably change as we get closer to the opening of the summer transfer window.

Cherki has delivered the best numbers of his career with 12 goals and 20 assists in 44 matches this season. and at just 21 years of age it is obvious that he has an even higher ceiling.

  1. I believe Milan need a stable base of Italian (quality) players in order to succeed! And I also believe that’s the reason Inter and Simeone Inzaghi has succeded in both Serie A and Europe!

  2. “and at just 21 years of age it is obvious that he has an even higher ceiling.” Didn’t we say that about Leao? 😅

    1. Leao is inconsistent. There can be no doubt he’s one of the best players in the world on his day. His numbers are still very good. He’s been a massive success for Milan. Far more successful than any number of stars from the past that I could name. This is the fourth successive year in which he’s had 20+ goal involvements.

    2. No sporting director to tell them that you can’t build around Leao – he’s a complimentary cog in a machine with equal or better parts. Leao would never carry Milan.

But hey, our managers think they know best.

  3. We should get back Salad , he would be great back up instead of loaning him up again and get useless players in return
