As Gazzetta dello Sport write this morning (seen below), the winner of Monday’s clash will be crowned the true ‘Anti-Inter’. So, it holds significant importance, if nothing else, for the Champions League battle too.
In head-to-head games this season, the Rossoneri have a fantastic record, and they can already look at one win against the Partenopei this season. Indeed, no Champions League chaser has beaten them this season.
Furthermore, there is less pressure on Massimiliano Allegri’s men. Their season was about reclaiming a spot in the top four, nothing more, nothing less. Ultimately, they are on track to do that. The hosts, on the other hand, were expected to fight for the title again, which they are only starting to really do now.
Defence and fatigue
Defensively, the Rossoneri are significantly better than Antonio Conte’s side, by seven goals. Indeed, a notable enough margin for it to be a differential in this clash, especially with Allegri leading the league in terms of clean sheets.
Finally, the Diavolo’s biggest influences will be well managed by their national teams. So, there can be fewer worries about fatigue. This can have a substantial impact on Easter Monday and perhaps beyond.
