Romano: ‘Here we go’ – Milan miss primary Theo replacement target De Cuyper

De Cuyper Here we go - @FabrizioRomano / X

In the run-up to this summer, Maxim De Cuyper’s name had been linked to AC Milan heavily. However, he will go elsewhere.

With Theo Hernandez’s situation not improving in the past 18 months, Milan have been looking extensively at the left-back market. Then, it seemed that they found the perfect heir to the Frenchman: Club Brugge defender De Cuyper.

Links have been prevalent for months, and in the past week, it was even stated that the Rossoneri had an agreement with the Belgian, who ‘wanted’ the move to San Siro. However, it will not arrive.

Milan miss out

Competing for his signature, alongside Milan, were Brighton, and Fabrizio Romano reports that the left-back will move to the Premier League on his X account, with his signature ‘here we go’ tagline.

The Seagulls have reached an agreement with Brugge at €20 million with future add-ons, a figure which the Rossoneri could have tabled with the sale of Theo. Everything is now ready for him to join Brighton, and he will have a medical today.

Considering how long the Diavolo have been watching the gem, there can certainly be questions asked about the failure to sign him, especially with him agreeing to a deal with the club in the past few days.

  1. Truffert from Rennes is the best. but this is probably too complicate transfer for our management. the same as Miguel Guiterrez. they already decided about Zinchenko.
    .
but I hope that at least free agent Junior Firpo will come. it’s very dynamic player.

    1. Truffert was already sold to Bourmouth as Kerkez replacement…

Guiterrez is basically Theo but not as good… he was used as LWB entire season

Udogie and Cambiasso are unsellable, Mykolenko is too 1 dimensional, I hope for Kardiglou from Brighton him or Esputian should leave after MdC arrival or maybe Tare can do something about Tavares

  2. If he wanted Milan he wouldn’t have agreed to go to pathetic Brighton so quickly. If he really was that great why didn’t any bigger team go for him? Think about it.

    1. Do you think every fooking player is dreaming about confused Milan? Lol
Milan didn’t make any contact with his agents nor his club… Only dumass media was writing gossips…
So, if you were him, would you wait for gossip Milan interest or choose Premier League club?

Unless you are st*pid I*iod, you WOULD go for real offer

    1. He was a free agent, that’s the best part..meanwhile our management is fixated on vlahovic, moise kean, et al

  3. I know people here is gonna treat him like the second coming of Maldini now even though no one ever watched him play

    1. Since that day you were publicly humiliated by everyone in this comment section (after Roma defeat in Europe League), you are trying to spread your poisonous hate on everyone lol

    2. Exactly! That’s the same with 90% of the players we’re linked with then the same fans cry when those players aren’t signed.

  4. Never think he was a primary target for Tare and Allegri. In order for our 4man defence to work, we need balance. Cuyper is a very attacking minded wingback. He has not half of the defensive abilities Theo’s got. In fact he is quite weak in physical aspect. It looks like Allegri is focusing on a more attacking minded rightback still offering some defensive loyality (Pubill? Don’t know this player to be sure, maybe Saelemaekers?) and a more defensive minded fullback on the left, Zinchenko would be solid if he’d be able to stay fit, I prefer Netz however from Gladbach who would be a perfect fit in this role.

As for De Cuyper, he made a very good choice choosing Brighton, as they tend to play with 3 in the back in defensive regard, giving him more freedom in attack to thrive and show up in front of goal, exactly what he does best.

  5. LOLOLOLO

Of COURSE we missed out….hmmmmm I wonder why? Are you telling me our tried and true strategy of waiting and waiting and waiting hoping the other club would lower their price wasn’t successful???? Hahahahahaha!!!

Bunch of clowns. All we heard was that De Cyper was the ideal replacement for Theo. Ok. What was the problem? We HAVE the $$$ from Reindjers sale don’t we? So shouldn’t have been a problem for 20M right…?

Ahhhhhh!!!! NO SIR. We chose to WAIT – and it backfired again as usual lol. It’s not about De Cyper. It’s about identifying your target within your budget and executing. Wasting time to save a few million dollars when you have the money (remember we are PROFITABLE!!) is not the way to build a winner. Training camp started and it’s more important to spend a few extra million to get the player you really want to start integrating them into the team/club/language/culture- than it is to wait and wait and wait to save a few million euros. We have seen this play out before. Young Players bought last few days of summer with zero time to integrate have not done well. BUT let’s repeat the same mistakes over and over again as I am sure it will be bound to change LOL. Jasarhi can you hear me???

Another Furlani special. Tare and Max don’t know what they got into with Furlani

    2028 cannot come soon enough!

    1. plus we were already in talks with that team…

55M base for both without bonuses would have been fair… maybe 50M and both have 10% resale… like use some creativity

      1. But why would you buy him, if for example your coach doesn’t want him. It was only the media all and you rying because you believed them rather than the coach and sporting director

    2. If only fake fans like you would vanish till 2028 but you dont got much of a life so spend all your time hating on Milan and claim to support

      kinda pathetic

      1. @Boulden!!! There you are son?’! So glad you took time out from wanking off to your Gerry and Furlani posters to pay us a visit! I know it was difficult for you kid!

I will rejoice in 2028 when your buddy Gerry sells and we have a real owner who wants to win TITLES and isn’t just concerned about making profit for his investors. That will be a glorious day. Until then we will have to deal w this $h*t and pathetic uneducated kids like you with your nonsensical Redbird Loving rants. Good times kid – say hello to Mom for me!

      2. Who are you talking to? Do you think anybody here takes you serious? Youre the laughing stock of this site. You and K are literally blacklisted as the pitiful clowns who tried to suck of Cardinale and his work, and then vanished the second the team hit 9th place and you had nothing left to say to make excuses

    3. They just signed Ricci and are trying to close Jashari. They still haven’t moved on Musah, Thiaw and others so what exactly do you think they were going to do, do a deal with Brugge then say wait, we’ll have the money in a few weeks? Stop being a Ted.

  6. Man you are completely misslead. 95 percent of the posts by the italian media are just gossip (when i see moretos picture, i automatically continue to scrolling)

I hardly think that we were interested in him. Media started it, media continued that milan is playing waiting game and media ended it with statement that we missed his signing. But i would not be surprised, if alegri and tare didn’t even heard his name ever (slightly over, but you get the point surely).

  7. Bravo guys.
He was the best option we had and nowhere near as good as Theo.
Perhaps end the stupid rift and just keep Theo, the best LB we have had since Maldini

  8. Tare might be around ….. but RAT FURLANI still rules over everybody else …… we might have got Ricci, true, but with the rat’s wheeling and dealing and crass ignorance milan take ages to decide ….. for others to enjoy!!!!!
