AC Milan’s centre-forward issue seems to be an eternal one, and the management have begun evaluating the future of the department.
Calciomercato.com write how Milan have scored 18 fewer goals than Inter and 15 less than Atalanta in Serie A, a significant gap for a team that had started the season with the goal of winning the Scudetto and now finds itself in eighth place.
If Christian Pulisic or Tijjani Reijnders don’t find the net then Milan struggle, as seen in last night’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari at San Siro. Alvaro Morata did score the Rossoneri’s only goal yet he isn’t netting frequently enough, while Tammy Abraham missed multiple big chances.
This is why a quality reinforcement becomes necessary to raise the level of the attack. The directors have decided to focus on Marcus Rashford, or if not him him then a player who can be used both as a centre-forward and out wide.
For several weeks, scouts has been following the striker Jonathan Burkardt who has 12 goals and two assists this season with FSV Mainz in the Bundesliga. Having been called up to the German national team in October, he is considered a player with big potential.
Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord remains one of the favourite names and there have been negotiations underway for some time. Lorenzo Lucca of Udinese represents an opportunity offered above all by his agent and which will be analysed in the coming months.
Randal Kolo Muani of PSG is liked but it is more of a summer opportunity than a January one. Among the profiles being followed is also that of Troy Parrott of AZ Alkmaar, who has 11 goals this season in 25 appearances across all competitions.
The dream for some fans would likely be Victor Osimhen or Benjamin Sesko, but they are much more complicated because of the price tags involved. Eventually, though, Milan will have to invest in the striker of the future.
“AC Milan’s centre-forward issue seems to be an eternal one.” Of course it is an eternal problem when they don’t want to spend money for a quality striker and have a terrible scout like Moncada.
Exactly
Yup. I understand that if we spend on a quality striker and it doesnt work out we are doomed. Imagine if we spend like United did for zirkzee and it doesnt work out. We sort of did it with Andre Silva. BUT, we gotta risk it sometimes. If we add all the money we’ve spent on strikers in the past 4-5 years (Lazetic, Morata, Jovic, Okafor, Mandzukic etc) it’s enough for an expensive one.
And what happens? Which doom happened when Silva didn’t work out? You mean when he was exchanged for Rebic? That was doom, horrible, Milan fell apart due to this deal. Do you want me to go on? Which doom? Nothing happens, even United could probably sell Zirkzee for maybe 10-20% less. Nonsense.
Osimhen have played in Serie A and is at right age and his playing style suits Milan and he would cost 60-70 million. So he would’t be like Zirkze in United or Andre Silva. And if Osimhen bang in 20+goals each season then you can sell him to Prem for double what you bought him for just like Inter with Lukaku.
Do you realize that there’s a way you’ll try to manage to avoid waste then you end up incurring more waste. That is Milan. If Moncada and Zlatan owns Milan, would they use their money to sign Morata, Emerson Royal and Tammy Abraham as their best? How can you compete with a Team that has the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Thuram and Terami as their strikers? Can you match any of our strikers with theirs? They have Dumfries, then went for Bisseck that is how to sign. Zlatan and Moncada should stop wasting our money in the name of managing.
Those days are gone. No one bid €100 million for Osimhen, that’s why he’s in Turkey.
Andre Silva is not a quality striker ,we need a ready made striker, like lukaku that is very familiar with serie a,to me Pato is the only sensible striker Milan has bought for the past 15 years now
Exactly
If we are buying a striker from Dutch league it should be Gimenez. Constantly scoring. Burkardt also looks good
I agree with @Rossi
If the striker isn’t at least 6’3″ and good in the air, he should not be on thr list. This side is incapable of breaking low blocking teams as it’s structures. It is built for counterattacking and nothing else. We need at least one player who will simply be able to out jump and out muscle defenders in the box, so when we face teams like Cagliari we can just pump the ball into the penalty area and use that height and heading to score goals. Top of my list is Lucca.
To find a tall, athletic player is difficult. Above 6ft is fine.
I hope Conceicao gives management the “football is simple” speach
We need a striker, buy a striker not a LW!
Atalanta bought Scamacca he scored goals got injured so they bought Retegui he scored goals.
Nobody is asking for R9!
Imagine the money we are currently spending to pay Morata, Abraham, Origi, Jovic etc
We’d be financially better off had we bought 1 good striker. Save wages and earn more through better results
Problem with investing into one quality striker is like ending up with Lautaro. Hot streak, cold streak. Then you have to find a Thuram to compliment… ON the flip side, you find the right combo and you and up with Pippo and Sheva for years and actually win sh*t.
Now Morata is no Thuram but at this point he’s here on a contract. And we’ve had to budget squeeze a striker for so long that it would be nice for once to spend over the budget for a proven commodity. I don’t know if that would be Sesko or Oshimen, but I would like someone a bit more established than a rejected loaner or a striker over 30.
Troy Parrott can’t play and suceed in Milan, he’s too soft.
Zlatan is not going to buy an expensive top forward because that will destroy his son’s ambitions. This is how clowns manage glorious teams these days…
Inter Milan don’t play with six men at the back, and, that’s why we’ve beaten them twice. We all yearned for a win last night, but, it wasn’t all gloom. We need a quality striker. A lot of us didn’t support the signing of Jovic, Morata, or Abraham, but, they are all we have. Things will change/get better. You can see it in all three games under Conceicao. There’s bite in the attack, and the players are giving it their all. However, not all of the players are top quality. Slowly, as they are withered down, and new players come in, things will improve
Can we just buy a nutless monkey and a dart board, I think it would be a more efficient selection process
