CM: The background on Pellegri’s exit and the €4m replacement Milan lined up

By Oliver Fisher -

It’s out with the old and in with the new for AC Milan as they are preparing to bid farewell to Pietro Pellegri and welcome his replacement from Serbia, a report claims.

Pellegri joined Milan on a loan with option to buy deal from Monaco during the summer transfer window but due to a multitude of physical problems – continuing a sad trend from recent seasons – he has not yet racked up 200 minutes of action and hasn’t scored a goal.

According to Calciomercato.com, the 21-year-old will now move to Torino on loan from Monaco and the operations is on the home straight. Pellegri is looking for more playing time when he does get fit again, and he was very keen in linking up with Ivan Juric at Torino, the coach who launched him as a teenager at Genoa.

Milan tried in vain to reduce the €6m option to buy on the Italy U21 international but Monaco decided to end Pellegri’s loan early and to hand him over to the Granata, who will also have an option to buy just like Milan did.

Meanwhile, Milan have wasted no time in replacing him as Stefano Pioli is preparing to welcome the 18-year-old Marko Lazetic, who is arriving from Red Star for €4m, plus bonuses and a percentage on future resale.
