MN: Milan management begin to think about Pioli’s future – the most likely scenario

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have begun to think about the renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli and one solution stands out above all, according to a report.

Pioli has been given a tremendous amount of credit for helping to engineer Milan’s resurgence since he took the job in 2019 after Marco Giampaolo’s disastrous 111-day tenure, with the Rossoneri now back in the Champions League and seemingly a potential Scudetto challenger again.

MilanNews have given an update on the future of Pioli given that his contract expires in June 2022, therefore at the end of the season. The management know they will be able to count on the unilateral clause and automatically extend his deal until 2023.

At the moment his option is ‘considered almost obvious’ given the results obtained by the former Lazio and Fiorentina boss in the post-lockdown period, rather than perhaps renegotiating the deal altogether and factoring in a potential pay rise.
