MN: Milan players show they are willing to fight for the shirt during win over Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the positive signs from the derby win over Inter on Saturday night was that there were several occasions where AC Milan players showed their attachment to the club.

MilanNews labels it as a sense of belonging to the shirt, to fellow team-mates, to fans, to the coach and to the project. Alessandro Florenzi showed in the first derby and then Sandro Tonali demonstrated on Saturday evening how united and compact this group is, with a spirit and hunger to win uniting them all.

This drive leads players to always give their best and to never give up in the face of opponents. Sometimes these kinds of incidents – such as the Tonali-Dumfries altercation and Brahim Diaz’s squabble with Hakan Calhanoglu – can be the turning point in games.

Tonali’s face to face with Dumfries was very Gattusian, while at the end the verbals between Theo Hernandez and Lautaro Martinez were followed by a rush, with all Milan players in the vicinity ready to back their team-mate. Football is more than just a result, it is about representing something you care about, and it seems several key members of this Milan squad understand that.
